Currently, foreign citizens from countries such as the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Republic of the Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of Guinea, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Yemen, the Kingdom of Morocco, the People's Republic of China study at the preparatory department of the Institute of Additional Training.

At the preparatory department, foreign students master the Russian language and specialized subjects necessary for further admission and study at the Higher Education Institution of the Republic of Belarus, including Francisk Skorina Gomel State University.

One of the priority tasks of the preparatory department is to conduct career guidance activities for foreign students in order to optimize their educational trajectories. In May-June, career guidance excursions to the faculties of our university are traditionally held in order for young people to make the final decision in choosing their future specialty. From the experience of previous years of work, it should be noted that foreign citizens prefer to study at the faculties of Economics and Philology, as well as at the faculties of Physics and Information Technology, Mathematics and Programming Technologies and Foreign languages.

Excursions to the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Physics and IT have already been conducted. Inna Babyna, Head of the Department of Economics and Management, and Natalya Shalupaeva, Associate Professor of this Department, provided assistance in conducting a career-oriented excursion to the Faculty of Economics. They presented a presentation about the specialties, the disciplines studied, as well as about the student life of the Faculty of Economics. Inna Babyna spoke in detail about the specialty “Business Administration”, in which there is an opportunity to study in English.

At the Faculty of Physics and Information Technologies, career guidance events were organized by the senior lecturer of the Department of Radiophysics and Electronics Andrei Sereda and the senior lecturer of the Department of Automated Systems of Information Processing Vladimir Kulinchenko. Foreign students visited the educational laboratories of the faculty, got acquainted with the specialties, and also learned how the educational process is organized at the faculty. A visit to the robotics class of the Gomel Technopark aroused great interest among everybody.

In the near future, the staff of the preparatory department plans to organize visits by foreign students to the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of Mathematics and Programming Technologies.
