Step into science

On November 28–29, 2023, the V International Scientific Conference of Young Researchers “Step into Science: Problems, Searches, Solutions” was held at Gomel State University named after Francis Skaryna. The conference was held by the Department of Russian, General and Slavic Linguistics with the support of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Belarus and the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Gomel as part of the International cultural, educational and scientific event “Slavic Meetings”. The conference was co-organized by Magnitogorsk State Technical University named after G.I. Nosova.

Among the 66 participants in the scientific conference are representatives of universities in Belarus, Russia, and Kyrgyzstan. A special feature of this year’s conference was the large number of in-person participants. A delegation of students from the Chuvash State Pedagogical University named after I.Ya. came to the conference. Yakovleva, led by Associate Professor S.L. Mikheeva, as well as students, undergraduates, graduate students of the Belarusian State University, Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after M. Tank, St. Petersburg State University.

On the first day of the conference, a plenary session was held. The conference was opened by the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Philology of Gomel State University named after Francis Skorina I.G. Gomonov. The guests and participants of the conference were greeted by the head of the Department of Linguistics and Literary Studies of Magnitogorsk State Technical University named after G.I. Nosova S.V. Rudakova; Professor of the Russian Language Department of the Southern Federal University L.B. Savenkova; Professor of the Department of Russian, General and Slavic Linguistics, Gomel State University named after Francis Skaryna V.I. Koval, Honorary Chairman of the Phraseological Commission under the International Committee of Slavists, Professor of St. Petersburg State University V.M. Mokienko.

Both experienced and novice young researchers made presentations at the plenary session: A.I. Kopninova, A.A. Shcherbataya (Gomel), O.G. Dedovich, D.S. Matesha (Minsk), D.V. Andreeva (Cheboksary), D.A. Konkova (Magnitogorsk). The topics of their reports reflect the entire problem field of the conference.

The focus of the young scientists was the phraseological and paremiological heritage, the semantics of words in synchrony and diachrony, philological analysis of a literary text, the specifics of linguistic personality and text in the digital era, features of Internet communication, problems of the ecology of language in the context of globalization, the uniqueness of intercultural communication, important issues language teaching in a modern school.

The discussion of scientific problems continued on November 29 at sectional sessions. The work was organized online and offline in two sections. The result of the conference was the publication of the third issue of the “Youth Philological Bulletin”.

The work of both plenary and sectional sessions, the content of published articles convincingly indicate that talented, enthusiastic, educated young people are confidently entering science, who are subject to the scientific problems posed and who, as a result of diligent searches, will find the right and necessary solutions. We wish success to the conference participants and thank their scientific supervisors!
