A Belarusian-Chinese sports friendship office opened at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University.
The opening was attended by Wu Guangyuan, Director of Beijing Zhongti Xiyong Sports Cultural Co. LTD, and Sergei Khakhomov, Rector of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University.
In 2020, the Faculty of Physical Education launched an advanced higher education program for citizens of the People's Republic of China in "Physical Education and Sports." The educational process is based on a symbiosis of fundamental disciplines and the active inclusion of elements of intercultural communication. This educational structure has enabled the training of over 300 highly qualified specialists since 2020, possessing not only practical skills but also research methodology.
It's important to note that the high level of training is confirmed by the graduates' athletic achievements. Among them are award-winning athletes who have excelled in wushu, volleyball, basketball, football, and table tennis. During their studies in Belarus, students from China actively participated in university sports competitions and were members of national sports teams, making a significant contribution to our university's overall achievements.
Beyond athletic achievements, the program has demonstrated strong academic potential: a number of master's students are now pursuing PhD programs after completing their studies, demonstrating the depth of their theoretical training, their interest in developing sports science, and the high professionalism of their faculty. Furthermore, the constant presence of Chinese athletes at the university created a unique environment for interregional exchange – Gomel athletes were given regular opportunities to compete in sparring and friendly matches with their Chinese counterparts, which increased competitive intensity, expanded their tactical arsenal, and strengthened friendly ties between the sports communities of both countries.
