Tan Xiaoxue, a first-year graduate student at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, took part in the 5th SCO Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in Belarus, held in Minsk, Belarus, on May 11, 2026.

The project "Synthesis, Structure, and Properties of Composite Multifunctional Biological Coatings" was submitted to the competition. It focused on the development of next-generation, modern bioactive coatings. As part of the study, the team successfully developed an environmentally friendly, solvent-free method for producing nanostructured composite coatings with controlled functional properties using plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition technology. The developed synthetic methods demonstrate high potential for modifying the functional properties of the surfaces of medical devices, including implants, surgical instruments, and suture materials, opening up broad prospects for their practical application in medicine.

It is worth noting that participation in this prestigious international competition, which brings together young scientists, innovators, and entrepreneurs from Shanghai Cooperation Organization member countries, is an important confirmation of the high scientific level of the research and its international recognition. Winning the competition and being awarded first place demonstrates the high relevance, scientific novelty, and practical significance of the submitted project, and highlights its significant potential for implementation.

Following the competition, Tan Xiaoxue was awarded a first-place diploma.
