On May 10-15, the II International Scientific and Practical Conference “Patterns of transformation of ecological functions of geospheres of large mining regions” was held with the support of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, Voronezh State University, P.M. Masherov Vitebsk State University, the Center for Geophysical Monitoring of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian National Group of the International Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment (IAEG) and the Gomel Regional Department of the Belarusian Geographical Society.

The volunteer group “Aksamit” has been operating for almost five years. It was created for the purpose of psychological support of elderly people and veterans living in the boarding house “Vasilevka”. The main idea of the group's activity is to improve the quality of life of lonely elderly people through retrotherapy: participants share their memories, talk about their lives, about their professional path, share important impressions.

“Inter-GSU!” continues! In the contest “Come on, girls!” serious battles for the first place broke out between teams of foreign students and Belarusian students of the preparatory department.

Two teams of five girls in each competed for the victory. The competition included many stages, during which the teams showed their strongest sides. The participants demonstrated their knowledge and talents, showed a creative approach to completing tasks.

The Olympiads among foreign students and Belarusian students of the preparatory department are being held for the second day at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. During the intellectual competitions in the Russian language, the participants tested their knowledge of grammar and listening.

Priority directions of the development of the legal system of the society were considered and discussed not only by Gomel representatives of lawyers, but also by honorary guests from near and far abroad.

For the first time, Francisk Skorina Gomel State University entered the international rating “Times Higher Education Impact Rankings” according to the criterion of quality of education with a position of 601-800 in the world. In total, 1406 universities of the world are represented in the ranking.

On April 26, the international student scientific and practical conference “Doing tourism business in Russia” was held at the Russian International Academy for Tourism. The conference was organized by the Department of Foreign Languages and Foreign Country Studies of the Academy.

According to the conference program, 1 participant from the university had to present the results of their research in English. The purpose of the conference is to identify relevant and promising areas of scientific research and practical developments in the field of tourism management.

From March 10 to April 23, two doctoral students of the Philological Faculty of the Department of Foreign Philology of Gumilyov Eurasian National University I.A Turlybekov and A.N. Baykadamova passed a scientific internship at the Faculty of Foreign Languages under the guidance of Dean Elena Sazhina.

During the scientific internship, consultations were organized with the internship supervisor on research topics, a comparative analysis of practical material was carried out.

Francisk Skorina Gomel State University begins the implementation of a joint educational program for the training of specialists in the specialty “Physics” with Heze University (Heze, China).

On April 22-23, the XII International Academic Internet Readings are being held at the International Institute of Interdisciplinary Education and Ibero-American Studies of the Southern Federal University in Rostov-on-Don. The problematic field of readings is represented by issues related to the study of intercultural communication, the importance of language, translation activities in the preservation and translation of the values of human culture.
