On March 27, the first stage of the XIII Forum of Universities of Engineering and Technology of the Union State took place at VDNH in Moscow. As part of the forum, 60 young scientists and graduate students from Belarusian universities visited the International Exhibition and Forum “Russia”. Our university was represented by Ekaterina Kulesh, a researcher at the Laboratory of Physical Chemistry and Technologies of Micro- and Nanoscale Systems, and Alexander Mayevsky, a junior researcher at the Problem Research Laboratory of Advanced Materials.

On March 22, 2024, the International Round Table “Generative Neural Networks in Teaching, Scientific Research and Linguistics” took place. The event was organized by the Department of German and French Philology, the Basic Department of Technology and Translation Automation at the AKM-West Translation Agency of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov (Arkhangelsk, Russia) and the Department of Romance-Germanic Philology of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Gomel State University named after Francysk Skaryna (Gomel, Belarus).

From March 18 to 22, the city volleyball championship among higher education institutions was held at the sports complex of the Belarusian State University of Transport. The girls' volleyball team of the Gomel State University named after F. Skaryna took an honorable first place, defeating the teams of the Gomel Trade and Economic University of Consumer Cooperation (II place) and the Gomel State Medical University (III place). As part of the national team, the honor of GSU was defended by M. Arkova, V. Yaroslavtseva, A. Cherenko, A. Kushcheva, M. Skoblik, A. Papsueva, A. Mukha, Y.

The university badminton championship among boys and girls was held at the sports complex No. 7 of the State University named after F. Skorina.

A concert dedicated to the spring and sun holiday Nauryz Bayram took place on the stage of the student club of GSU. Foreign students showcased a vibrant and diverse creative program, including a performance of the character Gyorogly from Turkmen heroic epic, vocal-instrumental numbers in different languages, and traditional Turkmen dances like bilezik and kushtdepdi. The audience also learned about the traditions and customs of celebrating Nauryz in Turkmenistan and had the opportunity to taste national dishes.

From March 11 to 15, a mini-football tournament was held at the Belarusian Trade and Economic University of Consumer Cooperatives, as part of the year-round city sports competition between Gomel universities.

The national team of our university won a landslide victory! Left behind were rivals from the Belarusian State University of Transport (II place) and the team of Gomel State Medical University (III place).

The GSU team was prepared for the competition by senior lecturer of the department of sports disciplines N.S. Martyanov.

Students from the Faculty of Philology participated in the final round of the 7th Belarussian Republican Student Olympiad in Chinese Language. On March 14-15, 2024, the final round of the 7th Belarussian Republican Student Olympiad in Chinese Language took place at the RIKK BSU.

The repository of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University has improved its position in the world ranking of repositories Transparent Ranking of Repositories from the 16th edition for March 2024.

In the general list (all repositories), including 4116 repositories, electronic archives, electronic libraries, the Francisk Skorina State University repository rose to 148th place, in the list of institutional repositories - to 136th place among 3994 other resources.
