From April 3 to 5, the Open Judo Cup of the Republic of Belarus took place at the Olympian sports complex in Mogilev.

More than 200 athletes took part in the competition. Medals were competed in individual tournaments and among mixed teams.

On the final day of the competition, the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Belarusian Judo Federation, Vadim Sinyavsky, visited and presented awards to the winners.

The Gomel region team took second place in the team competition.

And judoka Igor Makarov turned out to be stronger than his rivals in the weight category up to 100 kilograms. He became the first and so far the only Olympic judo champion in the history of Belarusian sports. Students of the youth wing of the Belarusian Women's Union of the State University named after F. Skorina met the train with children from the Kherson region, who were returning to the Kherson region after recovery.

Children whose families were evacuated from the war zone underwent recovery and rehabilitation for two weeks at the Lesnaya Polyana sanatorium in the Grodno region of the Republic of Belarus.

The regional stage of the republican festival of artistic creativity of student youth "ART-vacancies - 2024" took place at the Gomel Medical University. Our university showed the audience and jury a rich, multi-genre program. The creative teams talentedly surprised those present with academic, folk, and pop vocals, and demonstrated interesting and vibrant choreography and miniatures. GSU’s performance was filled with truly light, student energy, which captivated everyone in the audience.

On the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, which is celebrated in our country on April 2 and is a public holiday, a round table “25 years together” was held with students of the preparatory department. Union State of Belarus and Russia 1999–2024.”

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Union State of Belarus and Russia - the agreement on its creation was signed on December 8, 1999. Today, citizens of Belarus and Russia have almost the same opportunities for employment, choice of place of residence, education, medical care and social security.

On April 4, 2024, the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference “The Word about the Word: Research by Young Scientists and Philologists” took place. The conference is held annually by Astrakhan State University named after V.N. Tatishchev. Strong scientific contacts have been established with the Russian language department of this university. Mutual participation in all ongoing scientific events is carried out annually.

On April 4, the Faculty of Biology awarded diplomas and certificates to the winners for active participation in the subject Olympiad in Chemistry. The Olympics were massive. An authoritative jury consisting of teachers from the Department of Chemistry determined the following winners:
